Tha...

Farrah, I'm not sure how else to contact you! Thank you for the kind comments! I'm sure I've mentioned a lot of what you asked in various posts about the shawl but for simplicity:

1. Steady working, it probably took me a little over a month to do. I think it would have taken me less time if I'd picked a yarn that matched the row gauge a lot better.

2. I actually thought that beading instead of nupps was easier because you don't have to worry about the learning curve and nupp consistency. Most of the beads should be pretty similar!

3. I LOVED the yarn I used. The feel is cool against your skin but still provides warmth, it's very hard to describe. I still have about half the cone left as well but I would definitely say it was worth it to wear something so gorgeous to my wedding. I want people to come up and touch it and just want one themselves!

I don't have a lot of experience with alpaca but I think it would present a much fuzzier appearance and that this would create a much casual atmosphere. If this is something she would like for her wedding, then by all means, go for it!

Thanks again!

oh wow - what a beautiful shawl! I am making this...

oh wow - what a beautiful shawl! I am making this same shawl for my best friends wedding and I need some advice.....

1. how long did it take you to finish it.... I have one month (I have had a lot of trouble finding the right yarn to match her colors that is also affordable....). Thus, I am way behind schedule.....panic setting in....

2. I like the way you replaced the nupps with beads....is this difficult?

3. what is your opinion of the yarn you used? I was going to use wool but it is so expensive. I love the way bamboo drapes and feels but I am not familiar with its wearability. I have been trying to find bamboo in the right color and it looks like I can order Bambu but will end up with almost twice the yardage needed. Is it worth it?

I finally found a yarn that matches her color and is affordable but it is sport weight alpaca....not feeling totally confident about how this will knit up....do you have any experience doing lace with alpaca?

I totally love your work! THanks again!

Oh.
